London Fashion Week has just passed and with the current situation with coronavirus being the same, designers has to adapt and be creative with their shows as they took on the virtual side of fashion. What I really appreciated seeing from shows this year was the diversity. Seeing models from all backgrounds, trans, non binary, drag, plus size, everything! Models who you'd never even see in a magazine a few years ago are now becoming mainstream and I'm living for it. I think it's so important for all viewers to see a wide range of models being appreciated rather than just a small minority that set unrealistic standards.
One of my favourite shows was from designer Casey Cadwallader who has recently took on famous French brand Mugler. He recently became the brands creative director in 2017 and has not let them down. What I loved about the show wasn't just the elegant, sculpting garments that combines science and fashion into one with his clever designs that defy gravity, but his choice of models and dramatic settings for his show that leaves an impact on everyone. Cadwallader has always loved the "jaw-dropping scandalous stuff" as he believes this is what the brands about, and with his S/S 2021 collection it was just that. Cadwallader said he enjoyed playing around with his show this time and actually benefitted from it being a film without an audience rather than a normal show as it allowed him to try out new things and have fun with it. The show saw trans models, Hunter Schafer and Dominique Jackson as well as familiar faces such as Bella Hadid and Irina Shayk.
